David’s work ethic, experience and attention to detail has made him one of Farsight’s candidates often asked for by name – and is permanently on our ‘Star Candidate’ board!
“I’ve been working for Farsight for 3 or 4 years now,” explains David. “When they get a vacancy they call me and, if it is not too far away and a good rate of pay, I will usually go with them above the rest,” he continued. “I know I’ll get paid – no mucking about!”
David is currently on a 7/8 week contract, with many of his jobs averaging 3-4 weeks. He is rarely out of work, but has concerns about where his trade is heading.
“Painting and decorating is a dying skill, with very little training out there for young people. I would recommend that any young person thrown in at the deep end on site, should watch and learn some of the older professionals. Keep practicing on family and friends’ jobs – and above all practice your straight lines!”
David intends to carry on in his trade as long as he can. “It’s been a good year – busy throughout, and the rates for painting have picked up again – that’s going to come in very handy in the run up to Christmas.” He concluded.
We’re always looking for skilled tradespeople, so if you believe you have a trade and are looking for work, please contact the Resourcing team on: 01332 370300.
