Party takes fundraising above £3000

Farsight’s fundraising ‘Party with a Purpose’ was a huge success, raising a grand total of £1,400 for its adopted charity, Padley Group, and taking the total of its ongoing fundraising to over £3,000.

The party took place at The Blessington Carriage in Derby on 13th May, with well over 100 people attending and generously taking part in a series of fundraising activities.

Chief Executive of Farsight, Tom Dean, Olivia Dean of Padley Group and Farsight Assistant Manager, Abby Charleton (pictured top right), welcomed everyone to the evening and encouraged donations to a very worthy cause.

Padley Group is a Derby charity that works with thousands of homeless and vulnerable people in need of support.  Since 1985 it has provided those who need it with a learning centre, drop-in centre and hostel accommodation for people who find themselves without a bed for the night.  Its funding is continually dwindling and the charity is expected to raise 100% of its operating costs in the near future.

Partygoers enjoyed a schedule of fundraising activity, including 57 year old Farsight Labourer, Mick Stanley, completing 500 press ups in 16 minutes, beating his own lifetime record of 400.

This was followed by the auction of three members of the Farsight head office team, Abby, Jess and Heather, who offered their services as site labourers to local construction companies in attendance on the night.

A silent auction took place with bids placed in a hat - the highest bidder to secure a somewhat inexperienced labourer for the day. Jess and Abby raised a combined £371 from generous clients and Heather had a mystery bidder place a £200 bid to secure her for a day’s labouring.  Whilst Jess and Abby will be brushing up their digging techniques, Heather can very possibly look forward to a day of rest with her mystery bidder - romantic and generous partner, James - spoiling her rotten.

After the auction, Alex Duff, of LS Beauty in Ripley, carried out a leg waxing ‘fund razor’ - collecting £117 to ensure Farsight boss, Tom (pictured above), along with Consultants Gareth, Sam, Ashley (pictured seated below) and Jack, suffered the indignity and pain of leg waxing in front of a very large crowd.

The raffle prize of a 2 night stay at The Old Stable in Dorchester, and plenty of smaller prizes, were awarded to two dozen lucky winners, with Ady Barnett of ARS Build It Solutions scooping the star prize.

Following the raffle, the party music played long into the night and early Saturday morning, all in agreement it had been a roaring success.

Chief organiser, Abby Charleton said, “It was an amazing night, lots of planning and very stressful at times, but well worth it - the amount we raised was amazing.”

“On behalf of Farsight and Padley Group I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to support us, everyone - including some of our wonderful clients - who donated time, money and prizes, LS Beauty, Maxine Redfern who collected money on the night, Derbyshire Catering who donated a lovely fresh buffet and last but not least The Blessington Carriage for its donation of the function room and generous hospitality."

The Party with a Purpose was the first event organised by Abby, and boss Tom Dean, was quick to praise her.  “It was truly heartwarming to see how Abby has taken on the Padley cause and really ran with it. She’s committed a huge amount of time and energy inside and outside of work to make this party happen.

Abby demonstrates every quality we look for in staff here at Farsight, she is exceptional at her job, believes in what we stand for and has a big heart too.” He concluded.

The Farsight team is still working on ways to raise the additional £2,000 needed to repaint bedrooms and living rooms at the Padley Group’s Homeless Hostel. Anyone who would like to make a suggestion to the Farsight team, take part in a joint venture - or make a donation to its JustGiving page, please get in touch with them here, by email, or via the Farsight Facebook Page.
