Last week saw the team at Farsight Recruitment celebrate National Baking Week. We wanted to use the week to do something fun as a team with a chance to raise a bit of spare cash for our chosen charity, The Harley Jae Trust.
We decided to take part in our very own bake off. Eight bakers voluneered their efforts meaning from Tuesday to Friday we had two bakers a day. They had complete free reign on what they made, they could select sweet or savoury and present it in any way they wanted, but they knew that every team member would give them a mark out of ten for taste, presentation and effort. Any members of the team that had decided not to bake donated £1 per cake baked to our charity box.
If you want to see the full array of amazing bakes we received then head over to our Facebook page where you can see pictures of all eight. But for now the winning treats...
As we mentioned all bakes were marked out of ten for three aspects, those scores were added up and averaged by the number of people voting for them, so each baker ended up with a final overall mark out of 30. It seems there was a tough time making a decision as we ended up with an amazing three way tie. All with a whopping 27 out of 30.
We had an HUGE treat from Chloe with her Cookie's & Dreams cake, with layers of chocolate sponge, buttercream and home made cookies inside the cake she also topped the cake with more home made cookies. That left us all in a sugar coma for hours.
Then we had Jacob's kinder surprise cake. His sponge was marbelled inside and was sandwiched together with marshmallow fluff and nutella. It really was a surprise to die for.
Finally we had Abby's entry of festive sparkle fudge brownie cake. Chocolate sponge sandwiched with chocolate butter cream, covered in chocolate frosting, mini brownies and edible gold glitter. According to votes, it tasted as good as it looked.
Well done to our three worthy winners. We really enjoyed eating all your hard work. Now we're all back to the gym for a year in preparation for next years' national baking week.
